YASS! Gift cards are the best holiday gift!
The best part? Like everything else now- They’re VIRTUAL!
Good news is, you won’t be our first newbie and definitely not our last!
This is always the number 1 question! And my answer is always the same, almost every single one of my clients leaves after their first time saying ”That was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be!” So, yes it is not a walk in the park, but when you are in the right hands the experience can be a million times better. Also, it will never again be as painful as your first time as long as you are consistently getting waxed every 4 weeks without shaving in between. The bulb of your hair will get smaller and smaller each time making it less painful as it is removed from the pore, and making your hair grow back thinner and finer everytime! Shaving cuts the hair off before the follicle making it grow back thicker thus making it more painful and just like your first time all over again. I always tell my newbies to try it at least twice without shaving in between and if they hate it they never have to do it again, but I guarantee you’ll love it! Almost every client will tell you they’ll never go back to shaving and comes back every 4 weeks on the dot! So I think that speaks for itself!
We recommend growing your hair out for at least 3 to 4 weeks before your wax in order to achieve the best possible results! Naturally, your hair grows on different growth cycles meaning some of them are longer and some of them are shorter from inconsistent shaving cycles. As you continue to wax regularly your hairs will eventually begin to sync up and grow evenly so you can get the smoothest possible wax.
We recommend exfoliating 24 hours before your appointment in order to achieve the smoothest possible wax and help reduce the pain. Exfoliating softens the hair follicle and removes dead skin, which helps to easier remove the hair, also resulting in less pain. Taking a Tylenol or Ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment can also help in reducing pain (:
YES!! People often ask about how many men we get in our salon and in all honesty our clientele is almost 50/50 when it comes time Men vs Women! Men like to get waxed for the same reasons as women, as it makes the hair grow back thinner and finer, it is not stubbly or itchy when it grows back, and it greatly reduces the amount of maintenance. It is also great for a reducing sweating and the odor that comes with it in more *sensitive* areas of the body. Our Master Aesthetician Molly has been specializing in Male Brazilians for the past five years and is also a licensed and certified Male Brazilian trainer. She has been working on many of the Male dancers and performers on the Las Vegas strip for years now, but has clients that come from all over the country to get waxed because of how difficult it can be for people in certain areas to find someone even capable of performing a Male Brazilian, let alone properly trained and certified. Male Brazilians are not the type of service you want to have a bad experience with, so typically when people find someone good they like to stick with them! We are so grateful for all of our male clientele, and while it can be scary to get waxed for the first time we are always open to questions and helping you make the right decision if waxing is for you! Only gentlemen welcome.
We use two different types of wax, both our hard wax and sugar wax are our very own custom formulas that are the best in the industry for your skin and results. All waxing services are performed with hard wax, unless specified you would like sugaring. Our hard wax is made with moisturizing Shea butter and ingredients that have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. What’s the difference? Hard wax is applied to the area where it then saran wraps around the hair, hardens, and is peeled off only removing the hair and no skin. Which is largely the reason hard wax is so much better than soft wax which you may have seen or experienced (soft wax is pulled off using paper strip) Is because hard wax only adheres to the hair and not the skin. Where as soft wax adheres to the skin and the hair causing more chance of skin lifting, bruising, etc. With soft wax you are also only suppose to go over the area once otherwise you will most likely lift the skin, but with hard wax you can go over the same area multiple times with no problem and little pain as it does not adhere to skin. Any client I’ve ever had that has had an experience with soft wax always says how painful it was but once they experience hard wax they see the world of a difference and never go back!
Sugaring- on the other hand is generally less painful and is more exfoliating for your skin! With that being said, I do not recommend sugaring to clients who have not been waxing for at least six months to a year with hard wax for that reason. Sugar wax is an all natural wax made up of only four ingredients- sugar, lemon, water, and honey. The wax is made into a ball and rolled along with the skin, picking up the hairs as you go. Because the sugar wax is applied in the opposite direction of the hair growth, rather than with, The hair grows back much thinner and finer than any other method. The results are the most comparable to getting laser!
Not for us! End of story. As wax experts, we do this all day everyday, without even thinking twice about it. Think of us as your doctor or gynecologist, it is no different! We are here to make sure you have the best possible experience and promise to make you as comfortable as possible.
I can’t stress enough how important post wax care is! So much so, that for the past two years I have been in the process of developing my own product line to help my clients with aftercare! Exfoliating after your wax is going to be your best friend, It will help to get up all the dead skin cells so the hairs do not become trapped underneath. When the hairs become trapped underneath the skin, that is when they become ingrown. After exfoliating you need to moisturize to put the moisture back into the area, otherwise you are just defeating the purpose of exfoliating and drying the skin out even more. Booking an appointment with Sugar, Baby! Body will ensure you have access and knowledge to the very best after care products on the market. It is not recommended to swim, exercise, or spray tan for 24 to 48 hours after your wax appointment.
Many teenagers do not know how to shave correctly and shaving can result in chronic ingrown hairs, staph infections and even MRSA. The best case scenario is if you can get your teen to start waxing before they ever pick up a razor. Their hair will never get to the point where it is thick, coarse, and stubbly. By the time they are an adult they will have barely any hair growth, and it will be so much thinner and finer than it ever would have been had they started shaving. Teens can start waxing at any point even if they have already started shaving, waxing will not only dramatically change their hair growth but be much better for their skin, and reduce the risk of infections. The way we look at it is, if your teen is already going to be shaving, than really what is the difference compared to getting a wax other than it is a different method of hair removal that is better for them. We recommend you sit down and have a talk with your teen prior to making an appointment and ask them how they feel about waxing, their concerns, what services they’d be comfortable trying, and make sure you are both on the same page before the appointment. Waxing can be scary and uncomfortable for anyone but we strive to make sure every single client leaves having a great experience, and is knowledgeable about their aftercare and long-term waxing goals. For teens who have shaved before we recommend them growing their hair out for at least three weeks prior to their appointments. All clients under 18 MUST have a parent/Guardian present for their first appointment and also have a parent/guardian consent form signed and will always be given the option to have the parent/guardian in the room or not during the service.
“Can I wax during my pregnancy?” Yes!
And here’s why you should- If you begin waxing at the beginning of your pregnancy it will become much less painful by the time you are near the end and you will have much less hair throughout the entire pregnancy which will result in you being more comfortable and having one less thing to worry about. Many women cannot see or reach many areas of their body during pregnancy, so having someone else remove hair for them takes away a ton of stress and risk of them of hurting themselves while doing so. Waxing while pregnant is certainly safe and can be a comfortable experience when going to educated and experienced waxers. Another reason to get waxed before you give birth is due to some women tearing during delivery and the doctors having to shave the Brazilian area to apply stitches. Waxing can help avoid this and will also result in your hair growing back thinner and finer in the months following your delivery until you can come back for your next appointment. We recommend once you deliver, making your next waxing appointment anywhere from 3 to 6 months post birth, or whenever you feel comfortable coming back. We strive to make the experience as comfortable as possible for all of our new mamas and we will prop our bed for you every appointment to make sure you are never laying flat on your back. Many women wait till the end of their pregnancy to get their first wax but by that time because of the hormones and sensitivity to their skin, The wax can be much more painful than it would be if you start before you are pregnant or in the beginning of your pregnancy. Regardless of when you start, waxing while pregnant can be very helpful and give you great results.
